For this project, I wanted to reinvent the hierarchy of the King and Queen in traditional playing cards. I decided to represent the King and Queen using two types of moths, the Atlas and Luna moth. I was inspired by the composition of traditional playing cards, specifically the reflected imagery that allows the image to be read even if the card is flipped.
Additionally, I used a loosely ornate pattern around the border to mimic the ornate patterns often seen on traditional playing cards. The use of gradient and organic lines support this new depiction of King and Queen.
